PROPERTIES AND BENEFITS

Wild Thyme (Thymus serpyllum L.), also called White Thyme, is a plant belonging to the Lamiaceae family. Thyme is considered the antibiotic of folk medicine with its blend of essences with antiviral and antimicrobial properties. In fact, it is used to calm coughs and provides a balsamic, expectorant and antiseptic action. It therefore helps dissolve phlegm, and is also effective in calming anxiety. It is also useful for mouth and throat infections. It helps in the treatment of ulcers and tonsillitis, as well as having a positive effect on tooth or gum pain.

USE AND PRACTICAL ADVICE

Environmental diffusion: 1 drop of essential oil for each square meter of the room in which it is diffused, using an essential oil burner or in the water of radiator humidifiers.

Fumigations: against colds in a basin of boiling water put 15 drops of thyme essential oil, cover your head with a towel and inhale deeply through your nose. Stop briefly, every now and then, and continue inhaling until the water releases steam.

Massage oil: a few drops in a carrier oil, help with cough, catarrh and to calm anxiety. A few drops on the forehead in case of sinusitis and headache.

Internal use: The recommended dosage against cough involves taking 2-3 drops of oil dispersed in a teaspoon of honey.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Keep essential oil out of reach of children and avoid using near eyes. Use with extreme caution on damaged and hypersensitive skin, or on children under 5 years of age. Contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
